Flag Handing Ceremony for the Malaysian Contingent to XXIII Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018

The Flag Handing Ceremony for the Malaysian Contingent to XXIII Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 was held on Sunday, 4 February 2018, at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur.

The Flag Handing Ceremony was officiated by Y.A.M. Tunku Tan Sri Imran ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja’afar, President of OCM and IOC Member. Y.A.M Tunku Tan Sri Imran presented the Jalur Gemilang to the Chef de Mission of the Malaysian Contingent, Dato’ Paduka Mumtaz Jaffar (Vice President) and to Mr. Julian Yee, our Flag Bearer who has qualified to compete in the Figure Skating Men’s Short Program.

The participation in the PyeongChang 2018 will be an historical moment for Malaysia as this will be our first debut in the Olympic Winter Games since its inception in 1924.

Those who were present to witness this special occasion were members of the Executive Board of OCM namely Dato’ Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria (Deputy President), Dato’ Mohd Nazifuddin Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib (Vice President) and Dato’ Low Beng Choo (Secretary General), Dato’ Roh Jae Yeol (Director of Corporate Affairs of Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd), Ms. Cheon Hyo Jeong (Second Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea), Mr. Ahmad Zawawi Zakaria (Deputy CEO of National Sports Institute), Mr. Jefri Ngadirin (Acting Director of Athletes Division of National Sports Council), Mr. Mohamad Fadzli Johan (President of Ice Skating Assocoation of Malaysia), family members of the athletes and team officials, members of the print and electronic media and staff of OCM.
