Y.Bhg. Dato’ Dr. Amarjit Singh was born on 15th November 1949 and was a most successful Captain of Malaysia to date. He did his Medical studies in India where he honed his skills in Cricket. On his return to Malaysia, he was first posted to Penang where he found himself captaining the team. His first game for Malaysia was in 1979 and he played consistently and continuously for 11 years with 8 of those years as captain wining against Singapore five consecutive years from 1982 to 1986.

For his magnificent contribution he was awarded Malaysian Cricketer of the year in 1983 and 1984. After retirement, he continued contributing to the development of Cricket by serving as Vice President from 2001 until 2005, Deputy President from 2009 to 2010 and worked as a Team Physician of the National Cricket Team from 1979-2010. In 2001, he was conferred the award of ‘Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang’ which carries the title of  Dato’ by the HRH the Sultan of Pahang.
