DATUK NORMINSHAH SABIRIN

Datuk Norminshah Sabirin was the President of the Malaysian Netball Association from 1978 to 2002. She was the Head of Delegation of the Malaysian Netball Association to the Netball World Championships in Singapore (1983), Glasgow (1987), Sydney (1991), Birmingham (1995), Christchurch (1999) and Asian Netball Championships in New Delhi (1990) and Hong Kong (1993). She was also elected as the President of Asian Federation of Netball Association from 1993 to 1999. She was elected as Vice President of the Olympic Council of Malaysia from 2000 to 2005. She was the Deputy Chef de Mission of Malaysian Contingent to 13th Asian Games Bangkok 1998 and the Chef de Mission of Malaysian Contingent to 22nd SEA Games Vietnam 2003.

She was the first woman officer to join the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a diplomatic officer and has served in the Malaysian Embassy in Washington DC, USA for more than 2 years. She subsequently served in a number of Ministries including the Prime Minister’s Department and the Ministry of Finance. She was also Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports for 3 years. She has served as a Commission Member in the Teachers’ Services Commission, which is responsible for the recruitment and service of teachers and related personnel in the Ministry of Education. Her last portfolio with the public services was the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy, Telecommunications and Posts.
