Josephine Mary was born on 29th June 1967 and is a former National 400m and 800m athlete who won 4 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals at SEA Games. She also won 2 bronze medals at the Asian Games and 1 silver and a bronze medal in the Asian Track and Field Championships. She represented Malaysia in Asian Games 1986 and 1990 and the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games. At the World Championship 1989, she was the only female athlete chosen from Malaysia to represent Asia at the World Continental Games as a member of 4x400m Relay Team.

After her retirement, she started her coaching carrier with both her daughters with one of them winning a bronze medal in the 400m event at the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore at the age of 17and the other was a MSSM champion. She started her coaching as a volunteer in 2009 with a group of young athletes and became a full-time coach from 2011.
