Mr. Ng Chow Seng was born on 26th December 1935 in Kulim, Kedah.

As an ex-army officer, he holding the rank of warrant II and retired after 25 years of service. In the field of sports, he is an outstanding sportsman who joined the Regiment in 1959 as a recruit specialised as a physical instructor in the unit. He was also dubbed as Mr. Weightlifter and Mr. Strong Man.

He started taking up weightlifting in 1949 ath the age of 14 in Alor Setar. His first represented Malaya (now Malaysia) in the 1961 SEAP Games (now SEA Games) held in Rangoon, Burma where he win a Bronze.he subsequently represented the country again in the SEAP Games 1965, 1967, and 1973.

From 1972 to 1976 , he played a significant role as a senior physical training instructor with the School of  Physical Training Armed Forces at Camp Terendak, for the Malaysian Armed Forces Personnel.

Weight training or weightliftng is his passion and this has always fascinated him in developing strong, muscular and fot body ever since childhood days until now. He can be considered to be one of the fittest 76 years old even though he had gone trough his bypass 10 years ago on 28th March 2002.

As a master weightlifting, Ng sow Cheng did Malaysia proud by winning the gold medal at the 2011-Iwf World Masters Weightlifting Championships on the 27th Men’s and Women’s Championships at Limassol Cyprus. He is the first Malaysian master weightlifter to have won the gold medal in the world event. His active participation in the international competition at the age of 76 is a marvelous effort and winning the gold medal is indeed highly commendable.
