The Olympic Council of Malaysia has selected the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia and the Designer Ms. Melinda Looi, as the Joint Winners of the 2014 IOC Trophy – Sport and Art.
The Olympic Council of Malaysia decided to design the Official Sports Attire of the Malaysian Contingent participating in the Olympic Games, the Asian Games, the Commonwealth Games and the Southeast Asian Games, for the period 2013 to 2020, and requested the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia to undertake the design.
The design was conceptualized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia and the design was produced by Ms. Melinda Looi. The concept was to retain the orange colour which has become synonymous with the national athletes as well as the tiger motif, as the tiger has also become a Malaysian symbol. At the Sports Attire an updated and more contemporary design reflective of current classic trends.
In accordance with the agreed concept, Ms. Melinda Looi commenced designing the Sports Attire early in the year and after approval, the design was launched on 26th June 2014, for the Malaysian Contingents participating in the XX Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2014, the 17th Asian Games Incheon 2014 and the 4th Asian Beach Games Phuket 2014.
