The late Edwin Chong was the Assistant Secretary General of the Olympic Council of Malaysia for the term 2013-2015. He was elected the Honorary Secretary of the Amateur Swimming Union of Malaysia (ASUM) in 1999 before he stepped down for a year and reassumed the post, after the 2001 Kuala Lumpur Sea Games. He was also Asian Representative on FINA’s Standing Committee from 2013 to 2017and a FINA-Accredited Diving Judge.
He was appointed the Technical Delegate for Aquatics of the Singapore 28th SEA Games 2015, but did not take up the position due to health reasons. Edwin is best remembered for hiring some of the best diving coaches, including Yang Zhuliang, who has turned Malaysia into one of the top country in Diving in the world. He was responsible for the succes of the national swimming team up today.
