Regional Technical Course in Tennis (Level 2)



The OCM in collaboration with the Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM) organised the Regional Technical Course for Coaches in Tennis (Level 2), from 30 October 2019 to 10 November 2019, at the National Tennis Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

The Course was supported and endorsed by the Olympic Solidarity (OS) and International Tennis Federation (ITF) respectively. It was conducted by two (2) experts appointed by the ITF namely Mr. Rafael Martinez Gallego (Spain) and Mr. Kawaljeet Singh (India). A total of 18 Tennis coaches from Indonesia (3), Laos (2), Mongolia (2), Philippines (2), Vietnam (1) and Malaysia (8) were selected to attend the Course.

The Opening Ceremony of the Course was officiated by Mr. Mohamad Helmi Mohamad, Executive Secretary of the LTAM on Wednesday, 30 October 2019, while the Closing Ceremony was officiated by Dato’ Salahuddin Ahmad Kamal, Vice President of the LTAM on Sunday, 10 November 2019. Ms. Moira Tan Siew See, Assistant Secretary General of OCM was present at the Closing Ceremony to assist in presenting the certificates to the participants.

Ms. Moira Tan Siew See in her speech thanked the LTAM for their collaboration in organising this Regional Technical Course for Coaches in Tennis. She stressed on the importance of gender equality and encouraged more opportunity to be offered to women coaches in the future.

“We hope all of you, the Tennis coaches, will also help to inculcate the Olympic Values of Respect, Excellence and Friendship, in all your coaching sessions” added Ms. Moira Tan.

Dato’ Salahuddin Ahmad Kamal in his speech thanked the invaluable support by the OS,

OCM and ITF for the development of Tennis in Asia, particularly in Malaysia. He congratulated all the participants for having successfully completed the Course.

Mr. Rafael Martinez Gallego reminded all coaches to emphasize on the development at grassroot level in order to increase the pool of Tennis players for further development in their respective countries.
